The Midnight Toker. This is some crazy ass shit going down right here.
The artwork suggests Doom or Sludge. It's frenetic heavy psych to tear your mind apart.

Richard Bendall What a great sound! Like the droney parts of Sleep meets the Psych Rock of Earthless. Really great to chill to on vinyl. Favorite track: Dragon of the Deep Part one.

Lake Mistake There's not a dull moment or wasted beat on this whole album, it's a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling masterpiece.
Favorite track: The Righteous Path Through the Forest of Old.

Dragan Cekic This album is powerful peace of Music.
Something like music storm. Music Hurricane.
Fantastic musicianship and passion to perform.
These guys are not just simply playing their instruments.
They use them to tell us the story. They talk through them.
And the story does not have a single boring part.
Guitar work is absolutely impressive.
I like all those crazy guitar effects.
The rhythm section is equally good.
It is very difficult to repeat intensity of this album.
Highly recommended.
Essential!
Total madness.
Mark: 8/10

mirrormelt I remember being a young man and seeing them play this album live. It's quite an ecstatic experience. All of their subsequent albums are beautiful and one thing I can say for this band is that they are very spiritual in their approach to rock and roll music. They have taken the sublime and powerful qualities of rock and roll and devoted those to spiritual efforts. What better way to cry out to the Lord than to turn your amps up to 11? If you can see them live you should take the opportunity. Favorite track: The Righteous Path Through the Forest of Old.

about

“Acid infused kaleidoscope of sound – Mammatus take in every conceivable rock influence and spew out a monster of riff-o-rama. Huge” Rock-A-Rolla

“Heavy as hell – think Sleep drones and Sabbath riffs” Metal Hammer

Rocket Recordings are proud to release the debut album by Mammatus, a new four piece space rock band from the hotbed of heavy psychedelia, Santa Cruz, USA.

With an excess of fuzz and wah noise Mammatus manage to combine all the best bits of 70’s UK psyche rock with the sonic assault of early Monster Magnet, Mudhoney and heavy sludge doom rock. The album consists of four long tracks, the longest ‘Dragon of the Deep Part Two’ clocks in at a staggering 25 minutes long.

The sleeve of this debut album was crafted by the ‘sleeve artist of the moment’, Arik Roper who has made his fame for his work with likes of High on Fire, Sleep, SunnO))), Comets on Fire and the amazing Arthur Magazine.

Since forming at the beginning of 2005 Mammatus have been playing regularly across California and have gathered lots of praise and rave reviews, especially their recent spate of shows with Australia's Grey Daturas. Both bands also found the time to get together in the studio and record a 'superjam' which will be released later this year on Rocket Recordings.

Early demos of the Mammatus album gathered them fans from all over the globe and we have licenced this album to Holy Mountain for release in the USA and to Leaf Hound records for release in Japan.
